09-07-2011

I was off-line from last Thursday morning, 09-01-2011, until this afternoon, and I'm going back off-line tomorrow noon through Saturday.  Being off-line frequently for several days in a row is going to be my new "normal" for the foreseeable future.  So don't expect frequent postings here or even daily updates to my site like I have been doing for the past 15 years.
Had a great time at Fox Jazz Fest,  https://www.foxjazzfest.com/  , in Jefferson Park in Menasha last Saturday and Sunday despite the intermittent rain.  The best treat was unexpected from the short set by grade schoolers who attended the Fox Valley Consortium String Camp taught by cellist Matt Turner,  https://www.folklib.net/index/wis_jazz.shtml#Turner,Mt  .  Each student on violin and cello played a short (15 seconds to a minute) solo.  Outstanding was a 12 or 13 year old violinist, Alicia Mose, from Kaukauna.  She has played with the Fox Valley Symphony, and also plays mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer.  Expect a great deal from this young lady in the future.
